One of CHARTED’s goals is to make training resources more FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable), in order to make the dRTP training ecosystem easier to navigate for both learners and trainers. This can be difficult to achieve and it is not always obvious what that means in practice. Many trainers and training providers are keen to improve the quality of their resources but are not sure where to start.

To make this process easier, CHARTED offers an evaluation service that can be used by training creators to assess their training, particularly with regards to making training FAIR. This evaluation service offers you guidance about actions you can take in order to assess and improve the findability, accessibility, interoperability and reusability of your training.

All potential applicants for Fund 1 of CHARTED’s flexible fund are encouraged to use it to scope the proposed work.

The evaluation consists of around fifty questions, the majority of which require only yes/no answers.

After you complete the evaluation, an automated report will be generated based on your responses, and a copy will be emailed to you.

This is based on an approach used by the Software Sustainability Institute for evaluating the sustainability of software and information drawn from guides on producing FAIR training produced by ELIXIR and others, and incorporating feedback supplied by the trainer community.

This evaluation service is currently under development, and we welcome feedback or suggestions. These can be provided in a separate feedback form given after the main evaluation, or by contacting charted@drtp-skills.ac.uk.
